Huawei Recognizes NeoPhotonics’ Overall Excellence in Components Used in Huawei’s Access, Metro and Long-Haul Optical Network Equipment
SHENZHEN, China & SAN JOSE, Calif. -- NeoPhotonics today announced that Huawei, the world’s fastest growing manufacturer of telecommunications network equipment, has recognized the company with its 2008 “Quality Excellence Award.”
NeoPhotonics provides a broad spectrum of active and passive optical components, modules and subsystems, including SONET/SDH, GPON and GEPON transceivers, Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) DWDM Multiplexer/Demultiplexers, VOA Multiplexers and Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexers (ROADM), and Micro-Electro-Mechanical (MEMS) VOAs and Modules. Huawei uses NeoPhotonics products in its 10 and 40G OptiX metro and long haul systems and in its “Fiber-To-the-Home” ODN access solutions.
Furthermore, NeoPhotonics reported recently that the company became Huawei’s leading supplier of optical components in 2008, based on sales figures from 2006 to 2008 and other information provided by Huawei. NeoPhotonics’ 40% YOY sales growth has established NeoPhotonics as one of the top suppliers in the industry.
Huawei executives presented the award to NeoPhotonics CEO and Chairman Tim Jenks at a ceremony held at NeoPhotonics’ facilities in Shenzhen, China, home to 2000 employees, the bulk of the company’s manufacturing infrastructure and a significant portion of its development engineering resources.
“Huawei has scores of suppliers and we are proud that it recognized NeoPhotonics as among the upper echelon,” said Mr. Jenks. “Recognition like this bears out our strategy of extensive and ongoing investments in our Shenzhen operations to create a high-volume and high-quality manufacturing and shipping capability.”
NeoPhotonics is showcasing next week at the OFC/NFOEC Conference and Exposition in San Diego (March 24 – 26, in booth 1126) the industry's most complete portfolio of MEMS and “PIC” (photonic integrated circuit) based optical components, its broad line of telecom transceiver products in SFF, SFP and XFP form factors, its GPON transceiver portfolio, and new products for 40Gbps and 100 Gbps coherent optical transmission systems.
