Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr. Joins Education Online Services Corp. as President

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Education Online Services Corp. (EOServe Corp) today announced that Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr. has been named President of the company. Dr. Chavis, a civil rights leader and longtime public advocate of equal opportunity and educational empowerment, will lead a world-class team of online higher education professionals at EOServe Corp.

"His lifetime career, experience and dedication on behalf of educational opportunities and empowerment for diverse communities across our nation uniquely qualifies him for this position. Dr. Chavis will continue his leadership in education and equal opportunity causes through this platform, and help EOSERVE develop and implement online curriculum infrastructure, student recruitment, enrollment and retention on behalf of Historical Black Colleges and other diverse institutions of higher learning.

Dr. Chavis is the Co-Founder and President and of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN), currently the largest worldwide coalition of hip-hop artists and recording industry executives that serve as a catalyst for education advocacy and youth empowerment. During his tenure, Dr. Chavis has organized educational summits across the United States and Canada.
From 1996-2001, he was the President and CEO of the National African American Leadership Summit. In 1995, Dr. Chavis was the National Executive Director for the Million Man March. From 1993-1994, Dr. Chavis was the Executive Director and CEO for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). From 1985-1992, Dr. Chavis was CEO of the 1.6 million member United Church of Christ Commission for Racial Justice.
Dr. Chavis has delivered numerous academic lectures at such institutions as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, Columbia, Howard, Duke, Southern and many others. He has also authored several books in addition to numerous published articles and columns.
Dr. Chavis received a BA from University of North Carolina in Chemistry, a Masters of Divinity from Duke University, and a Doctor of Ministry from Howard University and has completed course requirements for a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Union Theological Seminary.
