Industry Veteran Will Help Halfpenny Technologies Strengthen Client Relationships, Enhance Product and Service Offerings and Drive Growth

BLUE BELL, Pa. -- Halfpenny Technologies, Inc., a leading health information exchange (HIE) company that enables interoperability between physician electronic medical records (EMRs) and hospitals, laboratories and other ancillary service providers, today announced the appointment of Jerry Baker as the company’s CEO. In his new role, Baker will oversee business operations and pursue strategic growth opportunities for Halfpenny Technologies.

“We look forward to leveraging Jerry’s expertise in clinical informatics to help further our goal of enabling meaningful health information exchange between labs, hospitals and physician offices,” said Charles Halfpenny, founder and president of Halfpenny Technologies. “With his visionary leadership and wealth of industry experience, we will be able to strengthen existing relationships and achieve a new level of growth.”

Baker, who has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare IT, previously served as president and CEO of MRO Corporation, an EMR release of information services vendor based in King of Prussia, Pa. During his tenure with MRO, he built a strong management team, retooled the company’s IT infrastructure and established a national sales and marketing presence that has created a basis for sustained growth and profitability. Prior to that, Baker served as president and chief operating officer of Info-X, Inc., an Inc. 500 company that was acquired by 3M in 2004. While at Info-X, Baker directed business operations and market development, and was instrumental in helping the company achieve significant growth while dominating the medical coding compliance market niche.

Baker has also held several key management positions with profit and loss responsibility at a number of early stage and Fortune 100 companies, including 3M, First Data Corporation and Baxter International. Before joining the private sector, Baker achieved the rank of captain in the United States Marine Corps.

“With the industry rush to EMRs being heightened by government stimulus, the connectivity challenges confronting disparate healthcare constituents are daunting,” said Baker. “Halfpenny Technologies provides a unique combination of technology and expertise to establish interoperability for physician and other EMRs. I worked with Charles Halfpenny more than a dozen years ago and I am thrilled to be back on his team.”

Baker also serves on the board of directors of Health Services Integration, Inc. (HSI), a provider of air ambulance services, including dispatch and flight following, patient billing and collections, intranet internal communications software and management consulting. In addition, he is a director for West Chester, Pa.-based Brandywine Airport, a designated reliever airport for Philadelphia International Airport.
