Quaker BioVentures' Sherrill Neff Elected to NVCA Board of Directors

BOSTON & PHILADELPHIA -- Quaker BioVentures, a leading venture capital firm dedicated to investing in life science companies in the Mid-Atlantic region, today announced that founding Partner Sherrill Neff has been named to the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) board of directors. The announcement was made at the 2009 NVCA Annual Meeting today in Boston at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.
Since founding Quaker BioVentures with Brenda Gavin and Ira Lubert in 2002, Neff has been one of the most active contributors to the venture community regionally, helping to foster the growth of a number of life science companies and bringing new medical innovations to market. He has also been involved with the NVCA, assisting in its public policy and legislative efforts in Washington, D.C., and serving as a regular commentator to the press on venture capital and life science matters.
Prior to forming Quaker BioVentures, Neff was President and Chief Operating Officer of Neose Technologies. He also served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development at U.S. Healthcare, and Managing Director in the investment banking division of Alex. Brown & Sons. Earlier in his career, Neff worked as a corporate attorney at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
At Quaker BioVentures, Neff's current portfolio company board responsibilities include Amicus Therapeutics, Biolex Therapeutics, Neuronetics, Optherion, and Regado Biosciences. He is also a board observer for Argolyn. Previously, he has served on the boards of BioRexis Pharmaceutical Corporation and Medmark.
Neff has also formerly served as the Chairman of the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group, now the Mid-Atlantic Capital (MAC) Alliance, and the President of the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Association, now PA Biotech. He is currently a board member of Resource Capital Corporation (NYSE: RSO), University City Science Center, Biotechnology Institute, the Policy Board of WXPN and Vesper Boat Club. He is a former board member of several publicly traded companies, including Resource America, The Bancorp, Jefferson Bank, and Neose Technologies.
Neff received a B.A. from Wesleyan University and J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School.
