Business Wire, April 30, 2009
OMAHA, Neb. -- Forbes has named Union Pacific Railroad as one of America’s most reputable companies. Union Pacific is No. 42, up from No. 59 last year and higher than any other North American railroad in the 2009 Forbes U.S. Reputation Rankings.
More than 10,000 people were interviewed for the U.S. survey, which measured how respondents rated companies in the seven categories:
- Financial performance
- Products and services
- Innovation
- Workplace
- Governance
- Citizenship
- Leadership
“Our reputation is a direct result of our employees’ dedication to service in all aspects of running the railroad,” said Jim Young, Union Pacific chairman and CEO. “Despite extremely difficult economic conditions, Union Pacific employees have remained focused on safety, customer service, and operating efficiency to provide Americans with safe, fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly freight transportation solutions that further increase the value of our already strong franchise.”
The 2009 Forbes Reputation Rankings were compiled by Reputation Institute, a global leader in developing corporate reputation management tools. The U.S. portion of the global survey considered the top 153 U.S.-headquartered companies by revenue.
