CH Energy Group Appoints Gould Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Business Wire, May 05, 2009
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- CH Energy Group, Inc. (NYSE: CHG) announced today that John E. Gould, a senior partner at the law firm of Thompson Hine LLP and outside chief legal counsel to the energy corporation for more than a decade, will join CH Energy Group to head a soon-to-be-established internal legal services team.
"After a review of our future legal services needs, we determined that establishing a small internal legal team, which will coordinate corporate and regulatory work and specialized-outside counsel, is in the Company's best interest. Key to that initiative's success is appointing the right person to lead that transition and build our new team,” said Steven V. Lant, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
“John is ideal for the role, based on his deep knowledge of our businesses and his excellent legal and administrative skills. He has served the Company extremely well as outside General Counsel, and the Board and management have come to rely on John's advice and guidance. We look forward to forging a deeper relationship as he joins the executive team full-time," Lant added.
Gould will continue in his current role as external General Counsel until he joins CH Energy Group on October 1, 2009. The Company expects to continue its relationship with Thompson Hine LLP, its current primary provider of legal services.
Gould holds an undergraduate degree from Fordham College and a law degree from Harvard Law School. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the State Courts of New York. He and his wife Bonnie reside in Scarsdale.
