Vail Resorts Wins Best Use of RFID at RFID Journal Live
Business Wire, May 11, 2009
EVERETT, Wash. -- Intermec Inc. (NYSE:IN) today announced that its implementation of RFID technology at Vail Resorts was voted “Best Use of RFID” by an independent panel of judges at the RFID Journal Live! conference in Orlando, FL. The 22 independent judges chose the winners, based on two primary criteria: did the RFID application break new ground, and did it deliver benefits to the customer?
Vail Resorts won in the Best Use of RFID in a Product or Service category, per the judges’ decision, because its RFID deployment effectively improved the experience of skiers at its resorts by using Intermec CN3 mobile computers with IP30 handheld RFID readers. Vail Resorts, the premier mountain resort company in North America and a leader in luxury destination-based travel at iconic locations, installed the Intermec solution for its 2008-2009 season ski passes at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly ski locations. The “easy scan” process makes getting through lift lines easier and more convenient by using RFID technology to give skiers and snowboarders the option to keep their passes inside their jacket and be automatically scanned by a Vail Resorts employee in the lift line.
“We are honored that the RFID Journal Live judges have recognized the customer benefits delivered by our RFID solutions for Vail Resorts,” said Intermec CEO, Pat Byrne. “Vail Resorts is a leader in delivering an exceptional experience for its customers, and we’re thrilled to be a part of that, and have that contribution recognized."
