Business Wire, May 28, 2009
NEW YORK -- NYU Stern announced that Eric Dinallo, Superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department, will join the faculty as the Henry Kaufman Visiting Professor of Finance. Dinallo will teach an MBA course in the Markets, Ethics and Law Program, beginning with the fall 2009 semester.
"We are pleased that Eric Dinallo will be joining the faculty as the Henry Kaufman Visiting Professor of Finance," said Thomas F. Cooley, Dean of NYU's Stern School of Business. "Eric will bring a depth of knowledge of insurance and regulatory issues, and our graduate business students will benefit immensely from his government experience as New York State Insurance Superintendent."
“We are living through one of the most challenging times in our country’s financial history. Joining NYU gives me a great opportunity to continue to participate in critical financial issues from a new perspective at an extraordinary institution. I very much look forward to applying my experiences as a financial services regulator, as a prosecutor and as a member of the business community to my new role at NYU Stern,” Dinallo said.
Dinallo took office in January 2007 as the 39th Superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department. As Superintendent, he has been a national voice for efficient, effective regulation to protect both consumers and foster a healthy, competitive market for insurance. During his tenure, Dinallo worked with the United States Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and others in the rescue of financial services giant AIG.
Prior to his role at the New York State Insurance Department, Dinallo was General Counsel for Willis Group Holdings, the world’s third largest insurance broker, was a Managing Director, Global Head of Regulatory Affairs for Morgan Stanley and served as Chief of the Securities Bureau in the Office of Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. Dinallo is a 1990 graduate of NYU School of Law.
