Procter & Gamble Employs Axway Solution to Ensure Supply Chain Efficiencies and Cost Management
Business Wire, June 09, 2009
Upcoming Axway Webcast on B2B and Managed File Transfer to Feature P&G
PHOENIX -- As part of its ongoing initiative to be a supply chain leader and optimize trading partner relationships, consumer products leader Procter & Gamble (P&G) uses Axway’s business-to-business (B2B) solution for their external managed file transfers (MFT). The solution delivers secure file transfer with real-time visibility and control, improving communication within and outside P&G. It also offers the agility P&G needs to respond quickly to changes in its supply chain.
Currently, orders, invoices, shipment notifications and other message files flow through the Axway gateway daily at P&G, for a total of more than one million files per month — all of which must be processed automatically and on time for business to flow. Transmission failures and system downtime would interrupt P&G’s entire supply chain, negatively impacting production and revenue.
“With Axway we are innovating our supply chain,” said P&G’s Chuck Patterson, service manager, enterprise application integration. “With our global, diverse supply chain, it is crucial we have the flexible partner onboarding and management as well as the reliable and secure file transfer capabilities the Axway solution provides. A seamless supply chain is good news for P&G and good news for our customers and consumers. It’s all about getting our brands to consumers efficiently and effectively.”
Benefits of the Axway solution include:
- Consolidation of diverse MFT communications into a single framework;
- Automation of manual processes, creating efficiencies and reducing costs;
- Easy onboarding of new partners, regardless of technical capabilities, allowing P&G to extend its partner community and gain competitive advantage;
- Peer-to-peer networking with active dual site failover that yields near 100 percent uptime keeping the supply chain in motion; and
- Visibility, security and management of file transfers creating better overall communication, guaranteed compliance to standards and lower data risk.
A live Axway-hosted Webcast, “Increased Efficiency, Security and Visibility of File Transfers at Procter & Gamble,” will air Wednesday, June 24 at 1:30 p.m. EDT. The Webcast will feature representatives of P&G to talk about the solution, its implementation and use, and P&G’s future plans around B2B. Axway solutions specialists will provide insight into B2B and MFT technologies.
“Today, smart companies are creating a co-innovation infrastructure to enable higher-level innovation. P&G is a leader in this, leveraging their relationships with partners and other companies, improving success rates with aggressive sustainability and product innovation goals, while realizing increased cost savings. We are thrilled to be a part of P&G’s strategy, and we look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with the Company to help bring quality products to market faster,” said Dave Bennett, chief technology officer, Axway.
