My Good Dog Products Pass Stringent California Toxic Chemicals Enforcement Act
Business Wire, June 22, 2009
Company Hopes to Set Standard for Pet Product Industry with Prop 65 Compliance
NORTH BROOKFIELD, Mass. -- Committed to setting an industry standard for non-toxic chemical composition in pet products, My Good Dog voluntarily submitted to rigorous chemical analysis and passed California’s stringent Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, better known as Prop 65. My Good Dog, designer of innovative and durable pet toys and products, is a division of Quabaug Corporation, the exclusive U.S. manufacturer of Vibram® soles and other high quality rubber products.
My Good Dog underwent seven months of product testing by two independent laboratories to confirm they met the demanding requirements of Prop 65.
“We hope other companies in the industry will follow suit and work towards complying with California’s toxic chemicals list,” said Luke Pfeifle, vice president of sales at My Good Dog. “Both pets and their owners will benefit.”
The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) of the California Environmental Protection Agency is charged with administering implementation of the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, better known as Prop 65. The OEHHA publishes the California list of “Chemicals Known to the State to Cause Cancer or Reproductive Toxicity (Prop 65 Chemicals list). Consumer products that contain any substance on the Prop 65 Chemicals list must provide warning labels unless the manufacturer can document that the substance(s) in question are only present in concentrations below the regulatory no significant risk level (NSRL) or the maximum allowable doses level (MADL) as applicable.
