Bill Me Later and Zappos.com Host Live Discussion with Insights from Experts and Findings from Survey of More Than 600 Women on the Role of the ’Household CEO’
Business Wire, June 22, 2009
Women Rank Mobile Phones as More Important Than Significant Other in Managing Busy Lives
TIMONIUM, Md. -- What does it take to fill the shoes of today’s Household CEO? That question, and others like it, will be up for discussion during a live online chat on Wednesday, June 24th at 1:00 p.m. EDT hosted by Bill Me Later and Zappos.com, a leader in online apparel and footwear sales. Joining the discussion are:
- Stacy Morrison, editor in chief of Redbook
- Lisa Witter, COO of Fenton Communications, blogger, and co-author of “The She Spot: Why Women are the Market for Changing the World and How to Reach Them”
- Erin Kotecki Vest, producer of special projects and political director at BlogHer, “Queen of Spain” blogger and former journalist
- Chris Gendell, Annapolis, MD, mother of three
- Michelle Thomas, brand marketing manager, Zappos.com
Each of these panelists will bring their unique perspectives and experiences to what we expect to be a lively discussion about the role of the Household CEO.
The forum, moderated by Sara Parker, Household CEO and head of public relations at Bill Me Later, will use findings from the survey of Household CEOs across America to engage in a freewheeling discussion. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A with the audience when everyone is invited to ask questions and join in the dialogue.
The survey that the panelists will examine was commissioned by Bill Me Later and Zappos.com, and received responses from more than 600 women around the country on a variety of career, lifestyle, and parenting topics. The numbers may surprise (or, if you’re living it yourself, maybe they won’t):
- The majority of women polled ranked the mobile phone as more important than significant others in managing both their household and professional lives.
- The job lasts ‘9 to 5’ only on Broadway. Nearly 70 percent of women work both outside and inside the home, having primary responsibility for managing the household, cooking, kids’ homework and the family’s social life.
- Social media is more than social. The women reported online media as a prime source of news.
The webinar, “Today’s Household CEO: What Does It Take to Fill Her Shoes”, will take place on Wednesday, June 24th at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
Immediately following the webinar, Bill Me Later and Zappos.com will welcome submissions from the nation’s Household CEOs about their lives. Household CEOs (you too guys!) are encouraged to submit a two-minute video addressing what it takes to fill their shoes, demonstrating why they stand out and deserve to win a shopping spree. Videos will be featured on the YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/HHCEOs. The winner will be announced on August 10th and will receive a $2,500 shopping spree sponsored by Bill Me Later and Zappos.com.
