Schaeffer's Sentiment Snapshot: Compass Minerals International, Inc

CINCINNATI -- The shares of potash producer Compass Minerals International, Inc. (NYSE: CMP) were the target of a bearish brokerage note this morning. More specifically, Deutsche Bank downgraded its rating on the stock to "hold" from "buy," predicting sulfate of potash (SOP) prices will pull back this year.
"While commodity potash prices have held up on thin volumes, we believe loosening supply/demand has raised the likelihood that support for the strong SOP prices seen in Q4 will ease in '09," the analyst stated.
