NEW YORK & STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Millicom International Cellular S.A. (NASDAQ:MICC) (STO:MIC), the global telecommunications company, today announces that Mr Marten Pieters has decided to leave his position as Non-Executive Director of the Company's Board of Directors.

The decision by Mr Pieters follows his appointment as CEO of Vodafone Essar which will be in conflict with his position on the Board of Millicom.
