2009 Storage Visions Conference Announces Storage Visions Award Winners

LAS VEGAS -- The Eighth Annual Storage Visions Conference (partner program to the 2009 International CES) awards were presented before an enthusiastic crowd at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The awards recognized companies advancing the state of the art in storage technologies utilized in consumer electronics, the media and entertainment industries, and visionary products for the digital content value chain.
The awards included the third Storage Visions Art of Storage award, recognizing a product for its best-in-class aesthetics, ease of use and industrial design. The winner of the 2009 Art of Storage award was Imation Corporation for their Apollo[TM] Expert UX 2.5" Portable Hard Drive.
A special Storage Visions Founders award was presented to Intel Corporation for its Intel[R] X25-M and X18-M Mainstream and X-25E Extreme SATA solid state drives.
Visionary Products Category:
* Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. was presented with the Mobile Consumer Electronics Storage award for its 128 GB solid state drive.
* Two companies won the Consumer Home Storage award: Seagate Technology for its Maxtor BlackArmor Drive and Toshiba Storage Device Division for its 250 GB 1.8-inch hard disk drive.
* The award for Integrated Home Entertainment went to Syabas Technology Inc. (DBA Popcorn Hour) for their A-110 Networked Media Tank.
* The award for Professional/Prosumer System went to Focus Enhancements for the FS-5 in Focus' line of Direct To Edit recorders.
* The award for Professional/Prosumer Storage was given to Cleversafe for their Dispersed Storage.
Visionary Company Awards:
* SanDisk was given the Visionary Consumer Electronics Company award for low cost storage for netbooks and new physical distribution initiatives.
* The award for Visionary Media and Entertainment Company went to Verbatim for products supporting content capture and use.
* The Visionary Service and Support Company award went to Bycast for their support of the long term retention and access of content.
Congratulations to all the winners and finalists of the 2009 Storage Visions Awards and thanks to all the companies that submitted products, as well as the award judges. The choice of winners of the various awards was difficult due to the excellent quality of the submissions.
