TI, Wintegra develop VoP reference architecture - The Circuit

Electronic News, April 15, 2002

TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC. AND WINTEGRA INC. LAST WEEK took the wraps off an integrated reference architecture for high-density voice-over-packet (VoP) equipment. The VoP architecture is designed for telecom equipment manufacturers and provides up to 8,064 channels for carrier class VoP equipment. The companies claim it is the industry's first programmable platform that allows equipment designers to speed time-to -market while providing flexibility. TI and Wintegra first announced a business relationship last year.

The reference architecture integrates what the companies claim is the industry's first access packet processor (WinPath) into TI's TNETV3010-based high-density gateway device. The TNETV3010 is built on Ti's TMS320C55x DSP core and field-hardened Telogy software products, providing the lowest power per G.711 channel and a full complement of carrier-class features, including audio codecs. TI said it also supports voice-processing functionality in the reference architecture, including G.168-2000-compliant echo cancellation with a 128msec (multicast security) echo tail, tone detection and generation, audio transcoding, and full VoP packet/cell encapsulation. The WinPath family is available now with full production scheduled to begin later this quarter. The TNETV3010 is sampling in quantity with full production planned for the first quarter of 2003.
