Electronic News, April 30, 2001
COMDISCO ELECTRONICS OF SAN DIEGO, A DIVISION OF Comdisco Inc., last week announced advancements to its Web sites to help customers manage capital equipment lifecycles more efficiently and cost-effectively. The Comdisco site is designed for users of semiconductor production, automated test and printed circuit assembly equipment, and complements the company's existing infrastructure and equipment distribution system, Comdisco (nyse: CDO) said.
The enhanced site features real-time listings of available electronics equipment and complete pre- and post-sale services such as online equipment information and pricing, equipment want ads, equipment tracking and personalized search capabilities. The site also provides logistics services, including removal, transportation and installation. Site users also gain access to used equipment resold through the company or equipment returned from lease. Users can also use the site to contact industry specialists for advice on market and equipment trends. The Web site can also be used to explore options to lease, source, redeploy, reconfigure or remarket equipment.
"We are implementing this e-commerce infrastructure to help companies make the most informed, most strategic and most financially sound equipment management decisions while working with a market-driven, time-critical and ever-changing technology," said Roger Innes, president of Comdisco Electronics.
