Transmeta Gets Design Win

WHILE THE NORTH AMERICAN PC OEM MARKET REMAINS elusive, Transmeta Corp. said it earned another design win with a Japanese notebook maker that will give the Transmeta's Crusoe processor market penetration in the sizable Asia/Pacific market. Santa Clara, Calif.-based Transmeta (nasdaq: TMTA) said Sharp Corp.
of Osaka, Japan, has introduced a Crusoe-based Mebius notebook PC in Japan. The new mininote-book has an optional battery feature that will allow it to operate up to 10 hours. The design win adds to Transmeta's list of companies entrenched in the Asian market including Casio, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Sony and Toshiba.
