Media Is The Message

The graphics business is pretty cutthroat these days (see page 1), but that doesn't seem to be discouraging newcomers. A start-up based in Santa Clara, MediaQ, is developing graphics chips using embedded memory. It recently OEMed a device to Hitachi for that company's Jupiter board aimed at the Windows CE market, containing 1meg of embedded DRAM, and a branded product with twice the memory is scheduled for March, also for the CE market.
Former S3 executives at MediaQ including Ramesh Singh, president, and Sunder Velamuri, vice president of sales and marketing.
