TI Unveils 300MHz DSP

San Jose-Texas Instruments Inc.'s digital signal processor (DSP) operations in Houston last week introduced a DSP that operates at 300MHz and integrates 7Mbit of memory. The new TMS320C6203 is targeted at third-generation wireless base stations and telecommunications and network infrastructure equipment.

The 'C6203 will be available in 300MHz and 250MHz versions, both packaged in BGA packages measuring 0.4 and 0.7 square inches, respectively. Sampling is planned for the fourth quarter of this year, with volume production in the third quarter of 2000.

Suggested pricing is $179 apiece in quantities of 25,000 for the 300MHz version, and $136 each in quantities of 25,000 for the 250MHz version. The part will be available from TI and authorized distributors. n
