Electronic News, June 3, 2002
VEECO INSTRUMENTS INC. RECENTLY added to its ion beam source business with the acquisition of Applied Ion Beam Group LLC, a Michigan-based manufacturer of high-current density ion sources. Applied Ion's sources are geared for a broad range of industrial applications, including flat-panel displays, web coating, automotive glass and architectural glass, according to Veeco.
The company's ALS product line operates over a broad range of conditions, Veeco said. The sources provide both gridless and filamentless operation with all inert and reactive gases and feature independent beam energy and current control. Manufacturing, development, technical support, sales and marketing for the ALS product line will be integrated into Veeco's Ion Source Center of Excellence in Fort Collins, Cob., where Veeco already manufactures its Ion Tech and Commonwealth ion sources.
