Interspeed IPO in Wings

Brooktrout Inc. said its subsidiary, Interspeed Inc., has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the initial public offering of its common stock. The shares will be offered by Interspeed and by Brooktrout Inc. Net proceeds to Interspeed are expected to be used for general corporate purposes, including working capital. In connection with the offer, Brooktrout expects to incur a non-cash compensation charge of about $1.9 million for the quarter ended June 30. Interspeed designs and develops advanced high-speed data com products based on DSL technology.

Cypress Expands Disti Roster

Cypress Semiconductor Corp., San Jose, has added a distributor in Japan. The company last week announced a partnership with Macnica Inc., based in Yokohama, Japan. Under terms of the deal, Macnica will sell Cypress's complete line of semiconductor products including memory products, microcontrollers, data communications products, Universal Serial Bus microcontrollers, and programmable logic devices. Macnica had been a distributor for IC Works, which Cypress acquired in April. Macnica has branch offices in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Utsunomiya.
