What's New At Intel?

PLENTY, ACCORDING TO MICHAEL SPLINTER, INTEL CORP. executive vice president and director of worldwide sales and marketing, who spoke at last week's PC Expo/Technology Exchange Week in New York. Intel (nasdaq: INTC) plans to introduce Pentium 4 microprocessors at 1.8GHz and 1.6GHz this month. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company currently offers a 1.7GHz Pentium 4 chip for low-end workstations and high-end desktop computers.
Intel also said it would sample its first 0.13-micron-based flash products in the fourth quarter. Splinter said 17 server and workstation manufacturers have announced Itanium-based systems to date, and a total of about 25 manufacturers are expected to offer more than 35 models this year.
