PartMiner Sells CSD Software Business to Manugistics

Electronic News, July 2, 2001 by Rob Spiegel

NEW YORK-BASED ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS EXCHANGE PartMiner Inc. announced last week it sold its PartMiner CSD Inc. (collaborative sourcing and design) software business to Manugistics Group Inc. The software company was part of PartMiner's 1999 acquisition of IQXpert, which the company purchased for its 15 million-item parts database.

PartMiner, which is partially owned by Cahners Business Information, the owner of Electronic News, retained the parts catalog, which is now called PartMiner Parts Database. "The asset in our hands was a non-core asset, but it's a highly valuable asset to Manugistics," explained Dan Nissanoff, PartMiner's chief executive officer.
