Everything Old is New Again

Electronic News, July 19, 1999

When Harris Corp. spins off its semiconductor operation later this summer, the unit will get the name of Intersil Corp. That will likely induce nostalgia among old hands who remember the Silicon Valley chipmaker acquired years ago by General Electric Co. and absorbed into GE Solid State, which GE sold more than a decade ago to Harris.

The move recalls National Semiconductor's revival of the Fairchild Semiconductor name.
