Earthlink to Offer Nationwide DSL

Electronic News, July 19, 1999 by Arik Hesseldahl

Earthlink Network, the nation's fourth largest Internet Service provider, said it would team up with MCI Worldcom's UUNet division to offer DSL services to its subscribers by the end of the year. The company said it expects the service to cost between $40 and $60 a month. So far, DSL services have remained largely outside the price range for average consumers used to paying $20 per month for dialup Internet services.

Previously, America Online Inc. has paired with Bell Atlantic and SBC Communications to offer DSL services, but only within certain regions of the country.
