Manufacturing Industry
Goodbye And Good Luck
Electronic News, July 23, 2001
Goodbyes are never easy. They're particularly hard when you have to bid your adieus to people whom you like and respect and when you must leave an organization that has so much personal meaning to you.
However, regardless of how hard it is, it is time for me to say goodbye.
In my nearly two years at the helm of Electronic News, I have seen this publication reclaim its position as the leading weekly newspaper covering the semiconductor industry. We have vastly improved the quality of our news writing, upgraded the look of the publication and launched a highly successful Web news service, www.electronicnews.com.
The response I have received from the industry has been overwhelmingly positive, as more and more people have noticed the positive changes at the paper. The support for Electronic News from our readers and those whom we cover has been extremely gratifying.
Beyond the paper itself, I have been able to use my position as editor in chief to bring together industry leaders to discuss major issues affecting the semiconductor and related industries. I feel there's no better purpose an editor of a trade publication can serve than to act as a catalyst for change in the industry he covers.
I leave here with a sense of accomplishment, having achieved what I set out to do.
I am now heading off to a new challenge, one where I can put both my analysis and communications skills to use.
However, I will always look back at my time at Electronic News with pride and satisfaction.
