Breen scores - The Antenna - Edward Breen, Chmn and CEO of Tyco International - Brief Article

Electronic News, August 5, 2002

TYCO INTERNATIONAL, WHICH HAS HAD SOME TOUGH INNINGS of late, seems to have hit a home run with the appointment of former Motorola President and COO Edward Breen as chairman and CEO, replacing Dennis Kozlowski, who resigned under storm clouds.

Reaction to Breen has been very positive so far, including from connector industry analysts who follow Tyco Electronics. "I think Tyco made an excellent choice," said Ron Bishop of Bishop & Associates. "Breen's reputation is sterling. He gets real high marks for being extremely ethical and honest, and he is a great manager." The quickness of the appointment will benefit the company and its customers, said Ken Fleck of Fleck Research. "I'm very pleased that Tyco's board found a new CEO in a short time frame of four to five weeks."
