Avnet Applied Computing Achieves Certification

Electronic News, August 13, 2001 by Rob Spiegel

AVNET APPLIED COMPUTING (AAC), AN OPERATING GROUP of Phoenix-based Avnet Inc. (nyse: AVT), last week announced it has received ISO quality management certification for its North American operations. The ISO 9001:2000 standard replaces the previous standards of ISO 9001, ISO 9002 and ISO 9003. The 9001:2000 standard is based on eight quality management principles, including customer-focused organization, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, systems approach to management, continual improvement, factual approach to decision making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships.

AAC received recommendation for the ISO 9001:2000 certification as a result of an organization audit conducted by TUV Essen of Clifton, N.J. TUV Essen is an international certification Organization that provides professional management systems and certification services. During the certification process, TUV Essen verified that ACC was in compliance with the necessary quality standards.

"In achieving the ISO 9001:2000 certification, AAC demonstrated that we consistently uphold the highest standards of business operations and management practices," said Ed Kamins, president of ACC. "This certification only enhances the value-added services such as Avnet Fastrac and technology showcases that our customers and suppliers have come to rely on in their quest toward the development of quality products that reduce time-to-market."
