IBM to Use E2open for Excess Goods

IBM CORP. OF ARMONK, N.Y., LAST WEEK ENTERED INTO AN contract to use the Belmont, Calif.-based e-marketplace consortium, [E.sup.2]open, to conduct private and public auctions of discontinued and excess components. Representatives from IBM (nyse: IBM) stated they intend to auction internal and external hard disk drives, semiconductors, LCD panels and tape subsystems in commercial lot sizes.

One of [E.sup.2]open's founding members, IBM expects to reach new customers through the auctions.
