Motorola Unveils Platform for Embedded Applications

Electronic News, August 27, 2001

MOTOROLA INC.'s COMPUTER GROUP LAST WEEK UNVEILED ITS Multi-Service Packet Transport Platform (MXP), an embedded applications platform that helps achieve data throughput of more than 7000bit/sec. Motorola (nyse: MOT) said that MXP has the flexibility and scalability needed to deliver multiple services that can connect to Internet Protocol (IP) and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM).

The MXP meets industry standards regulated by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG), said the Tempe, Ariz.-based Motorola Computer Group. The group also said the MXP reduces risks for telecommunications OEMs developing next-generation applications such as SS7 gateways, media/voice-over-IP gateways, media gateway controllers, edge routers, softswitches and access gateways as it allows them to develop on a single platform designed to be scaled up or down for performance and throughput depending on the application and number of users.
