Electronic News, Sept 16, 2002 by Rob Spiegel, Richard Wilson
PROMIERE, A SERVICES UNIT OF PHOENIX-BASED AVNET INC., last week introduced SpinTT, a supply chain intelligence tool produced by SpinCircuit Inc. of San Jose. Through a reseller agreement, Promiere users will be able to access SpinTT. According to Promiere, the tool gives designers and component engineers the ability to integrate component design and supply chain information into their design desktop schematic capture tools.
"As our customers look for innovative ways to compress the design cycle and minimize delays, inefficiency and unnecessary costs during the product development cycle, they need fast access to comprehensive, real-time design and supply chain data," said Greg Frazier, executive VP of Avnet Supply Chain Services. "They need information about part numbers, performance parameters, and supply chain intelligence, such as part-change and discontinuance notifications, lead-time, availability and pricing information." According to Frazier, the SpinTT tool brings this data to the engineer's desktop.
