DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH FOR CORPORATIONS TO FINALLY pull out their checkbooks for IT investments. The next wave of electronics growth will likely come from the old standby who pulled the industry through the downturn with automotive and DVD purchases. That's the consumer, of course. According to a report from Jay Srivatsa of iSuppli Corp., El Segundo, Calif., consumer spending on electronics will "undergo a major expansion over the next few years." Srivatsa predicts the drivers will be digital products such as DVD players, DVD recorders, digital televisions sets, digital camcorders, digital set-top boxes, digital cameras, video game consoles and Internet audio players.
Those waiting for corporate IT spending to finally lift should pull up a comfortable chair. The CFOs are still angry they were duped into all those B2B purchases. Instead, focus on digital gadgets for the family.
