Canon U.S.A.'s Semi Division Capacity Ramp Continues to Run Rampant

Electronic News, Oct 2, 2000 by Paul Kallender

CANON U.S.A's SEMICONDUCTOR Equipment Division said last week that Canon Inc.,'s $100 million capacity increase for steppers, scanners and mirror-projection aligners brings the company's total investment in new capacity for its Semiconductor Production Equipment Group to about $260 million. The completed expansion, at the Canon Optical Products Operations manufacturing complex in Utsunomiya, Japan, will allow 500-unit annual output by the third quarter of 2001.

In addition to manufacturing and assembly capabilities, the expansion includes production testing and analyzing equipment and a 50 percent increase in cleanroom space, the company said.
