Unfortunately for companies, then, most employees tend to view their options as short-term, or at most, intermediate-term pay, according to the report. And, also unfortunately for companies, the average time an employee can be expected to remain with a company is steadily decreasing.

One wonders, then, if stock options are sufficiently serving their intended purpose, or if more is needed in this super-hot job market.
