Richardson reports profit - Off the Shelf - Q1 ending August 31, 3002 - Brief Article

RICHARDSON ELECTRONICS LTD., LAFOX, ILL., DELIVERED A profit of $300,000 on sales of $108.6 million for its first fiscal quarter ended Aug. 31. During the same quarter last year, the company reported a net loss of $400,000. Q1 revenues were up 3.8 percent over the previous year. Margin pressure in the wireless market was alleviated by strength in other business units, the company noted.

"We are pleased to remain profitable in a difficult economic environment," said Edward Richardson, chairman and CEO. "Regional revenue growth, particularly in Asia/Pacific, has helped offset declines in other regions." Going forward, the uncertain economic outlook continues to delay volume consumption.
