Euro Vendors Roll System Design Tools
Electronic News, Oct 25, 1999 by Gale Morrison
From their U.S. headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif., Arexsys S.A. of Meylan, France, and Telelogic AB of Malmo, Sweden, said they are developing an SDL to VHDL interface that enables electronic system designers to use Arexsys' ArchiMate--an architecture exploration tool--on systems developed with the Telelogic Tau toolset.
Telelogic has two things especially in its favor: it specializes in system test tools and consults in several real-time operating system (RTOS) application projects. Customers include Hewlett-Packard Co. and Siemens AG. SDL, the International Telecommunication Union's specification and description language, is a formal graphical notation that some expect to be integrated into the system-level design language that the electronics industry is developing. ArchiMate is priced starting at $125,000 in the United States and Euro 125,000 in Europe.
