IBM Turns Over Fab Automation Software

Electronic News, Oct 23, 2000 by Jeff Chappell

IBM CORP. HANDED OVER INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY related to its Automation Connection and SiView MATE application software to Integrated Logistics Solutions (ILS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Park-Ohio Holdings Corp. ILS said it will continue the development and enhancement of the two products and offer cross-industry product support and application-consulting services to ILS customers.

The core IBM product development team, located in Boca Raton, Fla., will continue to provide application-consulting services in support of IBM's existing and future customers, according to IBM. Automation Connection and SiView MATE are software tools for the development of manufacturing execution systems and equipment automation that are compatible with applicable Semiconductor Equipment Materials International and Sematech standards.

IBM said its announcement is the result of an initiative to focus more efforts on providing customers with implementation and integration services for e-business and software from independent software vendors. Park-Ohio Holdings is a Cleveland-based supply chain-management services company and a manufacturer of highly engineered products for industrial OEMs.
