EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR A SAVIOR TO END THE SLUMP. COULD it be the Justice Department? The agency that made Redmond, Wash.'s mighty Microsoft Corp. flinch has changed its stance and is allowing the company to again push into new markets that could reignite consumer and business purchases.
The Windows XP operating system and eagerly awaited Xbox game console, due out later this month, may just start that off with scores of PC makers, component suppliers and distributors, contract manufacturers, retailers and others leading the cheering section. Who says justice is blind?
