Electronic News, Feb 4, 2002 by Rob Spiegel
CLEVELAND-BASED PIONEER-STANDARD ELECTRONICS INC. last week named Arthur Rhein president and CEO. The 56-year-old Rhein will take the reins on April 1. He currently serves as president and COO. Rhein will replace James Bayman, chairman and CEO, who will continue as chairman of the board through March 31, 2003. The company noted it has no immediate plans to fill the COO post. "Art Rhein has distinguished himself as an innovative leader and member of our management team for more than 20 years," Bayman said. "I am proud of what Art and I have built together and am extremely confident in his ability. The board shares my confidence in Art and has unanimously accepted my recommendation that he succeed me as CEO."
"The distinguishing legacy of Jim Bayman is that he cultivated a culture of integrity, open communication and employee empowerment," Rhein said. "Under his leadership, we generated solid returns to shareholders, motivated and developed our employees, and significantly enhanced the financial performance of our channel partners, the customers we serve and the suppliers we represent."
