Designers' wish list: more tools: need software for RF, microwave circuits for cellular com, wireless computer networks

Mr. Seely's group, with more than seven years of work under its belt, has already developed a precursor technology called GaAsMAP--the Gallium Arsenide Model Analysis Program, which gives the "basic methodology for what lets you go from a part in your hand to a model," said Mr. Seely. The group is continuing to develop tools for Motorola projects, and might make such tools available to the public upon completion.

"But what I would really like is to get Hewlett-Packard or EEsof or someone working on this so I don't have to," said Mr. Seely. "You can see that the potential power is tremendous."
