Hampshire technology may reemerge?

An AT&T spokesman declined comment on the reports; Dr. Lubin followed suit but remarked, "It was a multi-component financing package that was two-thirds complete. One-third didn't come through at the last minute and that's why we had to walk away." Sources familiar with the situation had differing views on why the financing fell through.

Some blamed GCA parent General Signal for moving too slowly, while others charged that AT&T changed its mind after conducting due diligence studies.
