Mentor shuffles VP deck
Electronic News, Feb 2, 1998
Wilsonville, Ore.--Today, Mentor Graphics will name five new VPs in reshuffling that will help the company focus better on "providing customers with leading technology to solve the verification challenges they face in a deep submicron design environment," the company says.
Andrew F. Adams recently joined the company as VP of Mentor Consulting. Also new are Richard J. Decker, VP of Information Technologies and Anthony B. Adrian, VP and Corporate Controller. C. Douglas Lyons and Steven Blum, longtime Mentor Graphics employees, move into new roles as VP of sales for Emerging Products and VP of sales for the Americas, respectively.
Mr. Decker and Mr. Adrian report to Gregory K. Hinckley, COO and CFO. Mr. Lyons and Mr. Blum report to Ken Bado, Sr. VP of World Trade. Mr. Adams reports to Bernd Braune, Sr. VP at Mentor.
Mr. Adams will focus on development of Mentor Consulting's knowledge centers, which are focused on system-on-a-chip design, including design reuse and verification, and high-performance systems. Mr. Decker's will handle Mentor Graphics' IT strategy, development, operations and technologies worldwide. He has a strong IT background, including commercial software development at Automatic Data Processing.
Mr. Adrian joins Mentor Graphics as VP and Corporate Controller. With 32 years of experience in finance, Mr. Adrian will play a key role in maximizing the company's management reporting requirements.
Mr. Lyons is responsible for Mentor Graphics' emerging technology and the expansion of its installed base. Mr. Lyons was a leading Mentor Graphics sales manager for several years and was then promoted to Western area sales director in San Jose, turning the Western region into the most successful sales region in the Americas.
Mr. Blum, a seven-year Mentor Graphics veteran, will lead the worldwide sales force towards three goals. First, by continuing the growth of the company's key products; second, complementing the efforts of Mr. Lyons, by helping the sales group focus on market-leading products in new and existing markets; and third, by expanding the company's role as a trusted advisor to its global customers. Mr. Blum was named Mentor Graphics' top account manager in 1993, and is one of the company's most successful sales people.
