A Plan at Intel Starts to Jell
Electronic News, Sept 28, 1998 by Carolyn Sobel
Brushing aside the dissenters, naysayers, Mr. B. laid out a long-term roadmap to encourage Intel to continue to tap a very large portion, a mighty big part of the microprocessor industry mart.
Their hope is for Intel, among all suppliers, to bag the largest contingent of buyers, thus making the company not only prominent but eclipsing them all -- that is to say, dominant.
If the future foreseen indeed does arrive, then, predicts Barrett, by 2005 there'll be a billion computers worldwide. Within each an Intel soul will reside if their plan succeeds, works out, catches fire and they achieve their heartfelt desire.
Into the coming market race, aimed at mainstream PC space, to fertilize and fructify looms the processor Katmai.
The energy this invention exerts yields 450 to 500 MHz, while a 2x AGP 440BX chipset comprises one of its specs.
According to the company planners, Celerons, StrongARMs, Merceds, Tanners, McKinleys -- all are in their schemes to realize their fondest dreams.
As if that's not enough, there's yet another horizon: the Internet.
RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser cites a new Intel trailblazer: it's the single micro system uniting four -- no room to list 'em! The point is all this is advancing Intel's efforts while enhancing quality of the video stream.
That's all for now upon this theme.
