Goofy pooches!
Ranger Rick, April, 2002 by Peppy T. Pooch
Hi! Peppy T. Pooch here. We dogs can pull off some pretty amazing stunts. Just take a look!
GO, GO BINGO!
How about this neighborhood clean-up guy, named Bingo? He zooms around town on his skateboard, picking up stray bits of trash like this. Then he dumps his finds into a recycling bin. It took many hours of training to turn Bingo into Mr. Clean. But there's no stopping him now!
What do you get when you cross a cocker spaniel, poodle, & rooster? Cockerpoodledoo.
Well, I thought I'd seen everything, but I guess NOT!

This black lab is named Mercedes, and she's nursing some abandoned baby raccoons alongside one of her own puppies. The raccoons had been rescued and brought to a nearby shelter. Shelter workers hoped Mercedes might be up for playing raccoon mom, and she was. Later, when the raccoons were older, they were set free in the wild. Good dog, Mercedes!
Tag, You're It!
Fred the duck chases Jiggs the pooch around the family's yard. Ever since Fred was a tiny duckling, he and Jiggs have been best friends. They often race around the house in opposite directions, nearly bumping into each other. Then they're off on a wild duck or dog chase. If Jiggs is inside, Fred will often come to the front door and knock rat-a-tat with his bill. That means, "Jiggs, come out and play!" And most days, Jiggs is happy to do just that.
Fins & Fur
Who'd ever believe that a dog and a fish could be best buddies? But these two sure seem to be. Whenever Chino the dog shows up at the edge of his family's pond, Falstaff, the dark-colored fish in the photo, swims over. Often the fish pokes its head up and nibbles on Chino's paws. Chino doesn't mind! Hey, attention comes in all shapes and sizes, doesn't it?

Yikes! A golden retriever leaps off a diving board into a swimming pool. But why isn't somebody stopping her? Well, it happened to be a doggie swim session at the pool. (People were still allowed too.) Most of the other pooches there wouldn't go near that diving board. But this golden, named Mona, was unstoppable. One time, just as a boy was about to leap off the diving board, Mona raced up and jumped off with him! Whoa, Mona, better wait your turn!
I wouldn't do that even for 100 treats!
Riding High
Hannah perches on Sid the donkey during spring plowing. She loves being part of the action! At a single command from her owner, Hannah bounds up a ladder onto Sid. She doesn't budge till she gets the signal to hop down. Ride on, Hannah!

He just stretches his legs a little farther apart, hunkers down, and rides it out!
