Dow Jones Newswires reports that an unnamed government official says Chuck Connor, special assistant to President Bush for agricultural trade and food assistance, has been chosen to be the next deputy secretary of agriculture. Connor has completed the necessary background checks and the official announcement likely will be made this week, the official said.
