Brown-Forman Corp

Food & Drink Weekly, June 4, 2007

International wine and spirits maker Brown-Forman Corp. (BFC) has announced the termination of its two joint ventures with the Orendain family, Tequila Orendain de Jalisco and BFC Tequila Limited. Described by Brown-Forman president and CEO Paul Vagra as "a natural step" following the company's acquisition of tequila maker Casa Herradura earlier this year, the company has agreed to buy the remaining portion of the global trademark for the Don Eduardo super premium tequila brand from the Orendains.

Meanwhile, the Orendain family will buy back all rights to the international Orendain trademarks. In the future, all of BFC's tequila will be produced at the Herradura manufacturing operations.
