Flowers Foods Inc., a producer of packaged bakery foods for retail and foodservice customers, said that it reached a definitive agreement to buy a Houston bakery from Sara Lee Bakery Group. The companies did not disclose the financial details of the deal. Sara Lee has said it plans to close the bakery in September.

Flower Foods said it will acquire the closed bakery and associated private label and foodservice customers around the same time. Company officials said they do not plan to reopen the bakery, instead using Flowers' new bakery in Denton, Texas to meet immediate needs for additional production.
