The American Dietetic Association names Juliana Parker Smith director of state government relations

The American Dietetic Association names Juliana Parker Smith director of state government relations. Smith previously worked at state, federal and local levels of government, including in the Virginia governor's office, and as a legislative assistant to former Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif.) and Rep.

Nick Smith (R-Mich.). In addition, she served as special assistant to the under secretary of agriculture for international affairs and commodity programs, as an environmental resource specialist for the Virginia Farm Bureau and taught in the Fairfax County, Va., public schools. Separately, ADA also named Brooke Trainum to be an associate for political affairs, assuming responsibilities for scheduling on Capitol Hill and managing data for ADA's political action committee. ADA also names Jennifer Weber as the organization's manager for national nutrition policy. She previously served as a nutrition advisor in the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion in the Department of Health and Human Services where she provided expert research and management for the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee and served as lead HHS staff for several subcommittees.
