Coca-Cola Co

Food & Drink Weekly, August 15, 2005

Coca-Cola Co. has appointed a new head for its India division. Atul Singh replaces Sanjiv Gupta as president of Coca-Cola India from September 1. Singh, who is currently Coke's East, Central and South China division head, returns to India for the second time, having headed up Coke's franchise bottling operations in the country between 1999 and 2002.

Gupta, who has been on medical leave recently, has been expected to stand down after the company took bottling operations out of his control and formed a separate entity called Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages. John Ustas was appointed CEO of the Company-owned Bottlers in India last month, leaving Gupta with the concentrate business, franchise bottlers and marketing operations. The Coca-Cola India unit comprises of India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and franchisees as well as the Indian bottling operations.
