Philip Morris U.S.A. announced that it is creating three new positions to ensure that its business structure is properly aligned to manage its key business priorities now and into the future. John R. (Jack) Nelson is appointed president of operations and technology. Nelson will lead product development, manufacturing and product integrity activities.

David R. Beran is appointed executive vice president of strategy, communications and consumer contact. Beran will lead the company's efforts to communicate with consumers and other important stakeholders, enhance market intelligence and guide the company's business development efforts. Craig A. Johnson is appointed executive vice president of sales and distribution. Johnson will lead the company's sales and distribution initiatives and enhance the company's responsible merchandising and sales activities in an increasingly complex marketplace. All three will report to Michael E. Szymanczyk, chairman, who will also reassume the title of Chief Executive Officer of the company
